Audition FAQ:

  

• Who can audition for the SHS Dance Team?​      

  • Any student that will be attending Snohomish High School for the 2019-2020 school year.  Current grade levels 8th-11th. 

  • Both boys and girls are welcome and encouraged to audition.

• When are auditions for the SHS Dance Team?​      

  • Please see the 19-20 Tryout Information Tab above.

• What should I wear for auditions? 

  • Clinics: Fitted athletic clothing, tennis shoes, hair pulled out of face, no jewelry, nails short, and if you own them dance shoes.

  • Audition Day: Same as above except solid black clothing (mostly black is ok).

• What if I do not have any previous dance training?​      

  • Please come anyways!  We do multiple styles of dance and provide training to dancers that love/enjoy dancing and are willing to learn!

Team FAQ:

  

• What styles of dance does the SHS Dance Team do?​      

  • Our team performs and competes in a variety of styles.  As a member of the competition dance team you will compete in at least one dance style at each competition.  Dancers are selected for each style based on their learning and performance.   

  • We plan to compete in Hip hop, jazz, pom, and/or lyrical this year.



• Can I be in other activities and/or sports while being on dance team?​      

  • YES!  Dance team members can do both Fall and Spring sports with little to no conflicts.

  • Dance team is flexible and encourages students to be involved in lots of activities, HOWEVER dance team needs top priority during the winter sports season as that is when we will be competing and performing at basketball games. ​



• How often does dance team practice?​      

  • Right after auditions we will be starting fundraisers and team building! 

  • SUMMER: Two day dance camp in August.  We will be hosting a children's dance camp as a fundraiser.  Practicing and preparing for performances.

  • FALL:  Choreography workshops as well as a few practices for school performances.  Continue to Fundraise! 

  • WINTER: T/Th from 230-4 with practice daily two weeks prior to competitions.

• When and how often does the SHS Dance Team perform?​      

  • 4-5 School Assembly performances

  • 4-5 Varsity Basketball game half time performances

  • 3-4 Dance Competitions

    • When our team makes it to districts and State that will add an additional 2 competitions!​
